Florence, 18th June 2021. In 2024, Florence will be the ‘capital’ of wind energy. The Conference on the Science of Making Torque from Wind – TORQUE will take place in the renovated Palazzo degli Affari in Spring 2024 featuring around 500 participants. Promoted every two years by the European Academy of Wind Energy, the main European scientific conference on wind energy, the conference gathers experts from the academic and industrial world to discuss the latest findings and developments of basic and applied research on wind-derived renewable energy.
This initiative is the result of a joint activity between the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Florence and Firenze Convention Bureau, with the institutional support of the Florence Municipality, the Region of Tuscany, and the commitment of Firenze Fiera.
“This event was already organised in Milan in 2018, but thanks to the enthusiasm and involvement of our team and of the professors from the University of Florence, we beat our competitors from Copenhagen”, said Federico Barraco, President of Destination Florence Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“This is another step forward to promote Florence as a privileged destination for scientific congresses – commented Cecilia Del Re, Councillor of Tourism, Exhibitions & Congresses for the Florence Municipality – to enhance the research field, support a strategic sector for the economy of our city and attract a different kind of tourism to our territory”.
“Once again – added Lorenzo Becattini, President of Firenze Fiera – our teamwork was acknowledged, along with the know-how of beauty, art, culture and Florence’s sense of hospitality, which helped us achieve this important goal”.
