Florence, 1st October 2021. The 26th CONGRESS OF FADOI (the Federation of the Associations of Internist Hospital Managers) will take place at Palazzo dei Congressi from Saturday, 2nd to Monday, 4th October 2021. This scientific society gathers the Italian internist hospital managers, who have been on the front line to assist Covid-19 patients for over one year.
On the first day (Saturday, 2nd October), the opening ceremony will feature a video keynote address by Anthony Fauci, medical expert of the White House, who received the Fadoi Internal Medicine Research Award 2021 at the Italian Embassy in Washington two weeks ago. During the event, His Eminence Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, Archbishop of Florence, and Dario Nardella, Mayor of Florence, will bring their special greetings. The event will also feature a video message from Italian Ministry of Health Roberto Speranza.
It is a return, since the Congress of FADOI, one of the most important scientific societies in our country, had already been held inside the Florence congress and exhibition center in 2019. At that time, there was not any health emergency, and the congress brought over 2,000 representatives to the city. This time, participants will be 450 – a necessarily lower number to respect anti-contagion safety protocols – coming from all over Italy.
This congress represents an important sign of restart and recovery for the congress sector, going “live” again, and for Florence, which managed to win over other cities’ bids thanks to a series of organisational advantages. First and foremost, because in just 48 hours Florence was able to provide an attractive and convincing proposal both for its congress spaces, inside Villa Vittoria, and for hotel accommodation, thanks to an excellent teamwork carried out by Firenze Fiera, Firenze Convention Bureau, the Agency Planning Congressi in Bologna, and the hoteliers.
