Florence, 19th November 2021. The final project to build the Bellavista Pavilion was approved, providing the Fortezza da Basso with a new congress room offering over 2,500 seats, along with an exhibition hall, a system of external pathways, hanging gardens, terraces, and green covers to maximise functionality and monumental renovation.

The new Pavilion will be built within the area located between the Opificio delle Pietre Dure (literally, the Workshop of Semi-Precious Stones), the former Machiavelli High School and the Arsenale Pavilion. This area is currently occupied by the former Florence Court warehouse and by the temporary Rastriglia Pavilion, which are going to be demolished.

This project includes the construction of a ground floor entirely devoted to congress and exhibition activities, a basement mostly reserved for catering, storage, and sanitary facilities, and a first floor reserved for installations, facilities and to access the outer cover consisting of gardens, terraces, and external pathways.

“Thanks to a joint work, we managed to unlock a fundamental work to reach a great shared goal for the benefit of the city”, said Florence Mayor Dario Nardella.

“The approval of the final project for the Bellavista Pavilion, featuring architectural solutions created to optimise its management and maintenance – stated Firenze Fiera’s President Lorenzo Becattini – represents an important step to enhance the offer of our congress and exhibition center, as well as a key advantage for the city of Florence to present future bids for great international congresses”.
